When you were in elementary school, you most likely looked up to older kids- like middle schoolers- as role models. A few weeks ago, the 8th graders members in NJHS got to be those role models for this year’s elementary schoolers. On Friday, November 3rd, members of NJHS (National Junior Honor Society) went to the Canyon Ranch Elementary Fall Festival. While most people were there to play games and watch performances, our NJHS members were there to volunteer their time to help run the event. There were many activities set up for the elementary school kids and their families to do at the event, so it was important that the volunteers were there to keep order and run those activities. Members of NJHS ran games, food stations, balloon sales, and more. However, it wasn’t all work and no play. Over 70 members attended and got to hang out with their friends! Overall, it was a great experience for NJHS! They spent a pleasant Friday evening with friends, collected volunteer hours, and most importantly, had the opportunity to be amazing role models to our elementary students!
